1827   1st Ed 24mo145mmx 95mm wt 216gms. 353 pages with slight browning on frontispiece, tight binding and clean throughout.     This is Volume 1V of Constable's Miscellany of original and selected Publications in the Various Departments of Literature, Science & the Arts. consisting of a series of original works, and of standard books republished in a cheap form, thus making one of the earliest and most famous attempts to popularize high-quality literature. The original binding was green cloth. This copy has been rebound in leather with marbled edge pages and gilt spine and covers - some marking but overall GOOD. There is a label indicating the rebinding was done on 1853 by Henderson and Bisset Edinburgh. It was given as an award to Jacobo Robertson by William Moffat MA on behalf of the City of Ediburgh as the cover bear the city's coat of arms and motto nisi dominus frustra.No author is given on title page. Murray may have edited the accounts, which include the shipwreck of the Antelope, the Mutiny on the Bounty, and the destruction of a British vessel on the coast of New Zealand, with anecdotes of some New Zealand chiefs..Popular collection of stories including the Bounty mutiny, Bligh's open-boat voyage, and the voyage and wreck of the Pandora. Other articles include one on the destruction of the Boyd on the coast of New Zealand and the book begins with a long piece on the wreck of the Antelope. The frontispiece is a portrait of the New Zealand chief Tippahee.
The book is complete as it stands, with half-title and title-pages both showing it as a complete work but the engraved title also identifies it as forming a fourth volume un Constable's Miscellany.
