Plants are listed by genus, though these can be cross-referenced through their common names. The contents is mostly about plants, but there are entries under gardening topics as well: for instance, Grafting is treated in a five page article with illustrations. This edition has been superceded by the much more massive "Hortus Third", but for the purposes of the home gardener this single-volume edition might be sufficent and more convenient.
